A new life without glasses
It has already been a year since the entire OCP moved to the new, amazing space in the Port7 building! The new facilities offer patients excellent transport accessibility, a beautiful modern environment, and expanded access to healthcare.
As part of the celebrations, the OCP team enjoyed a delicious cake, which was cut by our director Adam Janek, together with our leading physicians Andrea Janeková and Lucie Frantlová, and head nurse Jana Barchánková.
What has changed with the move to the new facilities?
The new space is nearly five times larger than the original. Today, we have spacious waiting areas, examination rooms equipped with the latest devices, 12 specialized eye clinics, and 4 high-tech operating rooms, all covering almost two thousand square meters. We have our own pharmacy and optics. We expanded our team by 9 full-time positions, and our team now consists of 52 members, including 14 core doctors. The team is young, very professional, and, most importantly, knows how to treat patients as partners. Additionally, it is compact and stable, which is not very common.
Before the move, you expected that the new clinic could allow for an increase in the number of clients and surgeries by a whole third. Did that happen?"
The reality has exceeded our expectations; we have managed to increase the overall capacity for examinations and all types of surgeries by at least one-third. I can already say that we perform over 10,000 intraocular procedures annually, more than half of which are cataract surgeries and lens exchanges, as well as intraocular applications of biological treatments. A significant percentage also consists of retinal and vitreous surgeries, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, and laser refractive surgeries. We have 20,000 unique insured patients, and new ones keep coming. Thus, we have fulfilled our plan to build one of the largest purely Czech modern eye clinics down to the last detail. I am glad that this is the case, especially because I have not let down the trust of our shareholders. From the beginning, they believed in me and gave me a free hand, which I greatly appreciate.
So, the new clinic is thriving. What else do you plan to focus on in the future?
I see increasing accessibility to care as a priority. Therefore, for the past three years, we have been building a network of eye clinics called Mediport. This network provides primary ophthalmological care at the standard we are accustomed to in OCP. In our now seven perfectly functioning clinics in Prague and Central Bohemia, you will find specialized eye doctors, a pleasant environment, and modern equipment. All subsequent specialized examinations and surgical procedures, including biological treatments, are performed at our clinic. I know that this is the future because primary care is generally overlooked, and eventually, people will have nowhere to go. In the future, my goal is to expand to ten perfectly functioning primary ophthalmological care facilities.
