Prof. JIŘÍ PAŠTA, CSc., FEBO

Prof. Jiří Pašta, CSc., FEBO studied at the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Hradec Králové and since 1980 he has worked at the Department of Ophthalmology of the Military University Hospital Prague as the senior doctor of the Department of Ophthalmology of the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and of the Military University Hospital Prague. On 1st of January 2013, he became a professional guarantor of the Eye Centre Prague.

Prof. Jiří Pašta, CSc., FEBO is a very active lecturer and writer, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Czech Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery, a member of both American and European Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the Czech Ophthalmological Society (COS), the Czech Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery (CSRKCH), the Czech Glaucoma Society (CGS) and Czech Vitreoretinal Society (CVRS). Since 1994, he is the main specialist of the Army of the Czech Republic for ophthalmology, he is a registered GMC consultant of the United Kingdom and since 2005, he has been an international instructor of laser surgery for AMO/VISX. Prof. Jiří Pašta, CSc, FEBO is a member of the accreditation committee of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic for the field of ophthalmology, a member of the board for attestation exams from ophthalmology and a member of the specialist board of doctoral study program Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové. With more than 30,000 cataract surgeries carried out, he belongs to the high-level surgeons in the Czech Republic. He also works in the field of refractive and laser surgery. In 2012, he received the highest award of CSRKCH – a medal of professor Vanýsek for the contribution to the development of implantology in ophthalmology in the Czech Republic Other awards he received are a medal of the Army of the Czech Republic of Grade III, II and I, a commemorative medal of the Military University Hospital Prague of Grade III and II and in 1994, Prof. Jiří Pašta, CSc., FEBO became a honorary member of the Canadian Implantology and Keratorefractive Association.

Prof. Jiří Pašta, CSc., FEBO is the author of 92 specialist and educational publications and a co-author of several monographs. He is also a co-author of the development and production of the first combined pico- and nanosecond laser worldwide called Oftalas FJFI. He collaborated with professor Wichterle on the research and development of full optics IOL, he was one of the researchers of the Czech-Japanese project called Advanced Waveguides for Laser Medicine Systems: the Czech Technical University Prague – Tohoku University Sendai and a co-researcher of the grant called Solid-state Laser for Ophthalmology (The Czech Technical University Prague – Military University Hospital Prague).
